Today we went to town and the girls helped pick out their Christmas stocking stuffers. That's one of the great things about this age...it doesn't matter if they see their Christmas presents early! :) We found all kinds of goodies to fill their stockings with. I really can't wait for Christmas morning! Watching them rip all their presents open will be SO much fun! Who knew a massage thingy could be SO awesome?! We definitely ended up with two of them. :) Today was the first snow around here. Now, I really kind of despise snow. It does have it's magical elements on the first snow day and it's pretty awesome to have around for Christmas Eve and Christmas...but other than that I'm pretty much convinced that it's wretched. It probably comes from growing up in an area where there's snow on the ground five months out of the year. However, I was pretty excited for the snow this year because I thought it would be SO much fun to play in it with the girls. Havyn was feeling a little under the weather today (I think she might be coming down with an ear infection) so we bundled Em up and out in the snow we went. This was her reaction for the first five seconds. And then this. The girl really HATES snow. Like REALLY. I'm hoping once sister gets in on the action and we get some wicked cool forts built this feeling changes. :/ After the great snow fail my honey and I went for a walk in the woods with the dogs. Grandma watched the girls...she's such an awesome grandma! :) I was attempting to take a kissy picture...then the flash took FOREVER to go off...we started laughing...and this was the result. I love him! :) We totally brought the sleds! I don't think I've gone sledding in like 10 years...SO fun! I tried to take a picture, just one good picture, of me with one of the dogs. This was the result. Hero stuck his tongue in my ear... and Gracie-Mae got super awkward. Lily was off galavanting in the snow and had no desire to take advantage of the photo op. There's a REALLY steep, REALLY long hill behind our house. PERFECT!! :) I really do believe this is why our marriage is so strong, why I love him more every day...it's because we do things like go on sledding dates. :) Once we made it to the bottom of the hill (screaming like little girls the entire way), Lily decided to get in on the picture taking action and we ended up with this little beauty. Best one yet! I think we may just have to have another sledding date tomorrow! When we got back home Buggy was feeling better! Smile on her face, shoes on her hands, equals one happy little girl! :) THEN we wanted to try to make some fire starters. I've seen a few ideas on Pinterest and we thought it'd be a good idea to make a few and have them on hand when we go into the woods. Not to mention it would make lighting the wood stove SO much easier! We ended up with this little contraption. And it worked! Bear Grylls move over, there's a new survivor duo in town! Now onto my Giving Thanks. Today I am thankful for love. It truly does make the world go round. There are so many forms and each one is so beautiful. I was reminded of that today. My little brother got engaged today. No, I can't quite believe that it actually happened as he should still be sneaking into my room at night to read Harry Potter with the flashlight under the covers. He got engaged to my friend who moved back to my home town with me from Vancouver. I can still very well remember the first day I worked with her at the humane society. If you would have told me then that in two years we would all live back in my home town and she would be engaged to my brother I would have told you you were certifiably crazy. But it's true. And I'm so happy for them. I wish them a lifetime of love and happiness. I know they are both over the moon. So for my Giving Reasons today I made them an art piece. Dandelions (aka wishers) are kind of Samantha's thing and this quote is something that makes her think about Adam. I hope they love it and that every time they look at it they remember this beautiful day in their lives. Happy Monday everyone, I hope it was great!
