One really CRAZY week...where do I even start?

Well it's been about a week since I checked in with you all...and what a CRAZY week it has been! We started off last Wednesday with an emergency trip to the vet. Our lab Lily went outside at 8:30 in the morning and by 9 she couldn't move. Couldn't walk, couldn't stand up, and she's only 4 years old. So off to the vet we went. They kept her all day and ran all sorts of tests and x-rays. Diagnosis at the end of the day? Arthritis. Yuck. However, by the end of the day she walked out of the vet's office and the next morning she was back to her normal self. The vet has never seen anything like it in his career. We ended up not having to give her the steroids and antibiotics he prescribed us which was a huge blessing! We're taking her back this afternoon for a check up but she seems to be in the clear for now. Whew! Then on Friday afternoon things got worse. Emersyn had a seizure. We rushed her to the emergency room. We stayed there most of the day and they ran all sorts of tests. She slept most of the time...except when they were checking her over and drawing blood. They ended up deciding it was probably a febrile seizure caused by a spike in temperature. That was kind of good news...but the bad news is there's nothing to do except wait and hope it doesn't happen again. Most kids that have them outgrow them by the age of six but we're REALLY hoping that she doesn't have another one. It was scary...REALLY scary!
They were having a little craft fair at the hospital so my mom bought Em a little taggie blankie. We had a really sweet nurse who came to draw her blood and when she was done she gave her a little teddy bear. That made them quick friends and when she left Em said, "thank you, love you." :)
My mom bought the girls little aprons at the craft fair too. Buggy rocked hers all afternoon and had a great time running through the halls and making friends with the emergency room nurses and doctors. Another really fun thing about being in the emergency room? Mom and Dad run out of the house with no food and you get happy meals. :/
This was the favorite toy of the day. Oh the things you come up with in a pinch.
By the next morning things seemed to be back to normal. The doctors told us Jon should stay home for the next few days just incase Em had another seizure so we spent our time relaxing and playing. The girls really are SUCH a help around the house! I should rent them out! :)
The SUPER fun thing about having to collect a urine sample? They give you these really nifty pee-collector-makeshift-hats! Turns out Em already has a pink Minnie Mouse potty at home that made the collecting of the pee super easy...so this awesome thing turned into a hat. Cool beans, right?!
On our way home from the emergency room we got some Disney Princess tattoos. What could make a sick girl happier!? Buggy got hers first...she took it like a champ!
Baby girl, I love your physique! It makes me happy! :)
Later on Saturday we made an appearance at our friend Danny's birthday party. He's 73 years old, mentally handicapped, and one of the funniest, sweetest people I've ever met! He just loves the girls...he calls them the "African baby" and the "American baby". :)
Cousin Hayle is home from college for the month! She came down Saturday night to visit and the girls took advantage of every minute!
All of us participated in the tattoo festivities. Em went first. Ariel was her tattoo of choice.
Hayle opted for Ariel and Flounder too!
I got a sweet rose on my neck.
Grandma got Sebastian on her hand. (The next day at her church everyone was alarmed because they thought she was bleeding)
And yes...Daddy even got one. That is Sleeping Beauty...on his lower back...and he may kill me for posting it. Hehe. :)
We hung out with our zoo...as you can see my animal photography hasn't improved any.
Doesn't she just look like she's up to no good? :)
Love. Her.
Sunday morning we went to Grandma's house for waffles. The girls got to play (gently) with her Christmas tree.
We're startin' 'em early! This makes my heart really happy because I've played piano since I was five.
Later that night Daddy made a pretty sweet play fort. Daddys really do make the very best forts.
THEN the girls got to help Grandma bake a cheesecake for cousin Hayle's birthday party. Their first baking experience and they did AWESOME! Is this or is this not one of the cutest little baking assistants you've ever seen?! Between her, her sister, and the cheesecake, I'm not sure which one is sweeter! :)
Wearing their new aprons were totally necessary!
They even got to lick the beaters!
We did some wrapping. This is by far my favorite Christmas gift under the tree! :)
It's a real hard life for the Mathes animals. Hard. Life.
My honey and I got away from it all for a few minutes and went on a little walk. I just really love us.
There's finally a little snow on the ground around here.
AND in the midst of all this I finished a few scrapbook orders!! This one was a memorial scrapbook for the mom of a boy who died last year. I was kind of nervous to make this one perfect...but I think it turned out great!
Now...have I been keeping up on my Giving Reasons, you ask? YES I have! :) The last six days I have left coupons next to products at the store, donated to the local 4-H in exchange for gift wrapping, left a note at the emergency room for the nurses and doctors (I know it's not much of a random act...but it's what I could get done that day), donated to the Boys and Girls Club, went to my mom's house and made her bed and did her breakfast dished while Jon changed out her battery, AND gave Box Tops for Education to my local school! I haven't done my Giving Reasons today but I'll think of something before the clock strikes midnight!
The day after Em had her seizure our other dog Kali was acting really weird. We told her unless she was LITERALLY dying we weren't taking her to the vet! She shaped right up and seemed to feel better. (I'm sure it was because of our pep talk!) :) We went back to the doctor on Monday and Em had a checkup and things seemed to be ok! We're praying that this was an isolated incident and things will continue to be ok. AND last but not least, Jon started a new shift at work yesterday! He now works 7-3, Monday-Friday. We're all loving this new schedule and I'm excited about what our days look like now! NOW I'm off to work on my 3 canvas orders and play with my BABIES!! I hope you all had a calmer week than we did! Happy Wednesday!
