Giving Lots of Thanks...medicine, adoption, and miracles!!

These last three days we have been thankful for SO much!! On Wednesday, Thanksgiving-Eve, we were thankful for modern medicine. My aunt had a stroke on Wednesday morning and thanks to modern medicine, and the many hard working people at the hospital, she is going to be just fine. I'm sure all the prayers she received from all over the country aided in that also! Yesterday was Thanksgiving and it was the one year anniversary of a very important day. It was the day last year that Jon was in Africa and went to court to make Emersyn legally our daughter. He had met her the day before. Yesterday we were thankful for adoption. Adoption helped make our family what it is today. We were given such a precious gift in our sweet girl and we are beyond thankful for her every single day. Today we are thankful for miracles. Yes, miracles. There was a point in time, not so long ago, when it seemed as though Emersyn would never be home and when we thought the baby we so badly wanted to have may never be born. Now here they sit, a testament to the fact that miracles DO happen. For us they happened in the form of two little girls. The light of our lives. What would we do without our sweet Havyn and Emersyn? I honestly do not know. These last few days we spent time together just focusing on being thankful for our miracles. Phones can do so much now-a-days. They can play movies, play games, tell you the weather, AND they are the simple best toddler toys, hands down! Especially when you get the model with "gorilla glass"! :)
Auntie Shannon and Auntie Bridget are home for Thanksgiving. The girls have had a blast visiting. We don't have stairs at our house and as far as they are concerned they're pretty darn cool...under strict supervision of course! :)
Playing the piano with Uncle Rod is also super fun!
Thanksgiving morning I woke up to this site: Em watching (totally transfixed by) the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade! This made my heart super happy because it's always been a tradition in my family to get up in the morning and watch the parade.
This is the only real way to eat Thanksgiving dinner...clothes off and drop cloth ready!
Oh, and of course you always have to have your bow.
This is how Daddy does push ups in our house...with his two little helpers on his back.
It may not be very productive...but it sure is...
FUN!!!!!!!!!!! :)
For the first time this year we braved Black Friday...but we went on Thanksgiving night. I really don't know if I'll do it again. All we wanted was a play kitchen for the girls but some people consider it a full fledge knock-down-drag-out sport. We're talking biting and kicking. It was pure insanity and honestly kind of made me sad since it's supposed to be a day for giving thanks. However, we got the play kitchen and girls highly approve (of the box at least).
Grandmas do give the absolute best horsey rides!
Myrtle the dinosaur is still crazy cool in this house...although I think he now is in second place behind Mator.
Baby girl, that mug is as big as your head.
This mat was also a Black Friday purchase. It was supposed to be for Christmas. The puppy dog eyes got to me...I caved...and now it's on their floor. They'll know the alphabet by the time they're 2, just you wait and see! :)
These past three days we have also been Giving Reasons. On Wednesday all the store were having awesome sales. I thought it was the perfect opportunity to get a few things for our local food bank. Time are hard and one thing no one should ever have to be without is food. Yesterday I donated to an animal shelter in Oregon called Family Dogs New Life Shelter. They have a senior dog right now named Sadie who needs dental surgery and they are trying to raise $650. Today I did another Giving Reasons for the animals. I'm a serious sucker for animals...serious sucker. There is a page on Facebook called Bay County Wilderness Dogs in Need. This woman saves dog after dog from this road where owners continually dump their animals. She does absolutely amazing work and needs a little help sometimes. Here's the link, check it out!! So that was our first Thanksgiving together. It may not have been extravagant, but it was ours and it was perfect. I hope yours was equally as delightful! :)
